Please review the frequently asked questions below prior to requesting assistance.
Deductions:
No. In 2005, NSHE moved all employees into FICA ALT.
It depends on which deduction you want to cancel. For additional retirement savings,
you can log into workday and update by selecting the Benefits worklet. For Liberty Mutual you will need
to reach out to the vendor. For health savings you can make updates through Healthscope.
State taxes are driven by the state that you are living/working in at the time that
payroll ran. Payroll does not refund state taxes. You will need to update your address if you no longer
live/work in the state on file in Workday.
Federal taxes are based on your filing. The IRS tax calculator is a good way to
determine the amount to withhold.
Medicare is charged to all employees that are working, regardless of retirement. You
can ask them to recalculate your earnings once you quit working for NSHE.
Pay:
The regular rate is the average hourly rate calculated by dividing the total pay for
employment in any workweek by the total number of hours actually worked. A workweek is a fixed and
regularly recurring period of 168 hours, or seven consecutive 24-hour periods. It may begin on any day
of the week and at any hour of the day. An employee’s frequency of pay (e.g., bi-weekly, semi-monthly,
monthly) has no impact on this fixed workweek. Each workweek stands alone; averaging hours worked over
two or more workweeks is not permitted by the FLSA. NSHE work week is Sunday through Saturday.
